Compensation and Benefits in PAC Resources Inc Research Paper

Remuneration and Benefits in PAC Resources Inc - Research Paper Example The legitimacy reward framework was actualized in the association in order to improve generally speaking innovativeness and advancement. It very well may be expressed that this framework was a key driver in setting of hierarchical profitability. Rewards in PAC was viewed as identical to remuneration given to workers (Gusdorf, 2011). In spite of the fact that it was a technique to accomplish better outcomes however there is no such profit watched for the speculation made by the firm towards such reward framework. This framework can be improved by diminishing the reward sum and making the whole framework focused towards elevated level of execution. A prize framework in any association should be propelling as it is the main factor which can build the degree of execution of workers. There are different approaches to make a prize framework propelling, for example, planning a framework which won't segregate among representatives and advantages will be given to the individuals who have set wanted degree of execution. The whole framework can be isolated into numerous parts where top level entertainers will be remunerated as well as even those will be given prizes who have attempted to accomplish wanted execution level. Alongside this the whole methodology ought to be engaged towards giving examinations just as money related prizes since them two are exceptionally propelling components. In an association where reward framework is a typical factor and is executed from numerous years, in such a situation parcel of contention emerges when such a framework is ceased. The main outcome is that workers begin to lose their inspirational level. This absence of eagerness greatly affects by and large efficiency of the association. Also, it even starts cynicism in the working environment as agents feel that their compensation is being cut by the administration. This decreases the level of additional exertion which was recently given by workers. Â

A Change of heart About Animals Essay

Albeit quite a bit of advanced innovation is centered around materialistic things as opposed to the issues, for example, basic entitlements, which are increasingly significant. â€Å"A Change of heart About Animals†, by Jeremy Rifkin, is an article where he contends how creatures have sentiments and ought to have their own privileges. He portrays how creatures can learn. What he doesn’t do is portray creatures as a lower class, however as â€Å"Our individual creatures† so he states in his article. In Rifkin’s article he utilizes language, for example, ethos, tenderness, and logos while utilizing a convincing tone. Ethos is communicated when Rifkin credits the researchers at Oxford University with the testing of two crows and their capacity to catch a bit of meat from inside a cylinder. Poignancy is likewise communicated towards the finish of the article when he genuinely calls creatures â€Å"our individual humans†. To wrap things up logos is communicated when he states how the European Union banned the utilization of detaching pigs in slows down. Some have contended that by basic jester’s creatures can live more joyful lives. For instance, in Germany pig ranchers are urged to allow pigs twenty seconds of human contact every day. A portion of the backers that give this exploration are cheap food purveyors, for example, McDonalds, Burger King, and KFC. Their commitment has dialed the weight down of basic entitlements activists. Despite the fact that means have been taken towards inquire about turn of events, there is still more to be educated. In view of such unfeeling conduct appeared by certain ranchers, a few colleges have presented law seminars on basic entitlements. A portion of these Universities have documented claims for basic entitlements. Because of this Germany turned into the first country to ensure basic entitlements in quite a while constitution. It just demonstrates that there are still some acceptable individuals out there. It’s evident that more move should be made towards accomplishing our objective at basic entitlements. With the assistance of creature activists and some significant colleges, we can accomplish basic entitlements. It isn’t toll to them. That’s why it’s up to us to give our kindred animals the rights and insurance that they merit. Simply think, OK prefer to be confined the entire day with no state on what to eat, and live in hard conditions? A Change of Heart about Animals Essay In â€Å"A Change of Heart about Animals† Jeremy Rifkin says that creatures have a similar human characteristics that people have. What's more, with that they merit more if not a similar measure of regard as people. He gives numerous models on how a few creatures are human like feeling and talented astute. I can't help contradicting Rifkin. I imagine that most creatures ought not get more regard than people reason being that the greater part of the creatures he recorded will be slaughtered and be utilized for sensible human use. In the first place, Rifkin gives numerous models that are self negating to what he is attempting to contend. First Rifkin says â€Å"Studies on pigs’ social conduct supported by McDonalds at Purdue University†¦ they pine for fondness and are handily discouraged if isolated†¦ absence of mental and physical boosts can bring about weakening of health.† Here Rifkin is stating that pigs need consideration so as to remain solid. I can't help contradicting this in light of the fact that at long last the pigs will be murdered and be utilized for human utilization so for what reason would it give it a second thought in the event that they are discouraged or not. Likewise, it negates itself in light of the fact that the individuals subsidizing it are one of the significant partnerships killing a great many pigs day in and out so it causes it to appear as though they are attempting to spare the pigs. Later he states â€Å"Philosophers since quite a while ago contended that different creatures are not equipped for mindfulness since they need individualism†¦ At the Washington National Zoo, orangutans given mirrors investigate portions of their bodies they can’t in any case observe, demonstrating a feeling of self.† Here he is expressing how creatures do in actuality have a feeling of mindfulness and that orangutans are a prime model. I can't help contradicting this explanation being that Rifkin didn’t give the name of the savants who said this, making it not trustworthy on the grounds that anybody could have said that. Likewise they are not so much giving the orangutans to openly watch themselves since they have them secured up walled in area at the Washington national zoo. All things considered I think Rifkin doesn't give a sufficient contention. He gives models that effectively repudiate him making his contention not tenable enough for the peruser. With this I think Rifkin is in no situation to state that creatures merit a greater number of rights than people.

Star Appliance Company Essay Example

Star Appliance Company Essay This paper will examine how Star Appliance Company dealt with its expense of capital and plan for future ventures. The paper will uncover corporate issues and present pertinent administration speculations to lead the organization into an answer. The hidden issues comprise of picking another and progressively proficient financing system, and planning increasingly precise technique for assessing venture ventures. Already, the organization was having positive deals exhibitions which by implication prompt the issue to be difficult to recognize. Be that as it may, as the organization expected to extend their business, the new monetary official found a few wasteful aspects in overseeing corporate financing methodologies and assessing future speculation. The condition was portrayed by the WACC method.â The paper will introduce options of answers for the issue and at long last pick the most helpful one for the case. The organization must embrace another financing system which fuses a decent extent among obligation and value financing instruments. The organization should likewise plan another assessment system for the new speculation ventures which join dangers premiums, extra expense of ventures and a wiggle room in estimating future income. The money related office has gotten expanding jobs in the corporate administration idea. In past occasions, showcasing division ventures deals, creation office decided the important measure of advantages required so as to meet the projections, and the money related department’s work was distinctly to give assets to giving other office their prerequisites. Be that as it may, this model of the executives is out of date and supplanted by progressively organized sorts of dynamic, where budgetary administrators are answerable for arranging just as controlling exercises. This mirrors the expanding significance of good budgetary contemplations in every choice of the enterprise. We will compose a custom exposition test on Star Appliance Company explicitly for you for just $16.38 $13.9/page Request now We will compose a custom article test on Star Appliance Company explicitly for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Recruit Writer We will compose a custom paper test on Star Appliance Company explicitly for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Recruit Writer As per Weston and Brigham (1996), there are a few point by point exercises identified with money related administration. One of them is the action of settling on speculation and financing choices. In accordance with corporate long haul methodology, budgetary administrators must give assets to help development. Fruitful organizations for the most part have high pace of deals, which required extra processing plant venture, gear and current resources for produce merchandise and enterprises. In the more planned dynamic exercises, money related administrators must assistance deciding the ideal deals level and settle on choices on explicit speculation that will be performed. Inside those exercises, there are additionally inquiries of whether to utilize interior or outside financing, obligation or value financing, and short or long haul obligations. These are significant parts of corporate administration that could decide if the organization is making a beeline for progress or money related disappointment. Inside this paper, I am talking about the significance of thinking about expense of advantages in corporate monetary administration. The contextual analysis will be the Star Appliance Company in 1977. In this paper, I will portray the issues inside Star Appliance Company money related administration and offer proposal to take care of existing issues inside the organization. II.                Problems Within the Star Company II.1     Corporate Background The Star Appliance Company is an effective business of assembling home apparatuses, particularly electric ovens and stoves. Not long after the organization was built up in 1922, it gets a warm greeting from the developing business sector for home apparatuses. The organization centers around furnishing its clients with premium sorts of home apparatuses with a marginally higher edge than its rivals. In a brief timeframe, the organization figured out how to assemble critical piece of the pie because of its notoriety of giving excellent apparatuses. Corporate money related procedure â€to use values rather than obligations has appeared to be working wonderfully as The Company had the option to endure the extraordinary sadness and keep up its reality with littler based activities yet solid monetary structure inside the organization. Nonetheless, the board has become mindful that there are issues in keeping up productive tasks with existing lines. The organization intends to enhance its product offerings, however there are a few concerns with respect to how the organization dealt with its expense of capital. Without solid money related administration abilities, interests in new product offerings could crush corporate productivity as opposed to creating it. Along these lines, these issues must be tended to first. II.2     Hurdle Rates In straightforward comprehension, obstacle rate implies the base adequate pace of profit for a capital speculation venture. It is required to quantify the confinement of when a speculation is not, at this point thought about gainful. The figuring has the essential rationale of expecting comes back to be higher than the expense of speculation. Anyway it likewise join a few factors, for example, the expense of hazard, expansion, and so forth. It is a far reaching look on how a speculation will build the abundance of the investors. Scientifically, the obstacle rate comprises of the expense of the capital in addition to the project’s hazard premium (‘The Hurdle Rate, 2006). II.2.1  Corporate Hurdle Rates The organization appeared needed intelligent thinking to decide its obstacle rate. Corporate obstacle rate is put together just by an involvement in respect to past return of value. As indicated by the elaboration over, this arrangement is helpless against dangers and gives low confirmation to benefit. The organization must decide another and progressively sensible obstacle rate by consolidating components, for example, cost of capital and hazard premium (‘The Hurdle Rate’, 2006) II.2.2  Cost of Capital The expense of capital must be incorporated inside a venture figuring just on the grounds that we would prefer not to contribute where we it gives us no benefit what so ever. In any case, in light of the fact that acquiring cash results extra costs, the idea cost of capital must incorporate two things: the task cost and the financing cost. To be worthy, an undertaking must have a pace of return that surpasses the venture cost in addition to the financing cost (‘The Hurdle Rate’, 2006) II.2.3  Risk Premium By the by, cost of capital itself despite everything doesn't give a consistent estimation toward a decent financing choice. This is on the grounds that each arrival from various arrangements of venture has an alternate level of affirmation. In the event that the venture has under 100% affirmation for the arrival, at that point a hazard premium must be remembered for the figuring of financing choice. Be that as it may, the pace of hazard premium must be set very in a cautious way. Deficient measure of hazard premium will put our venture if peril, then again, over expecting the measure of hazard premium will wipe out some beneficial tasks from thought (‘The Hurdle Rate, 2006). II.3     Financing Alternatives and Inflation II.3.1  Corporate Financing Strategy As referenced for the situation study, the organization ha a special system of financing. The organization relies upon value financing strategies significantly more than obligation financing techniques. On different words, the organization made due during its time generally by selling corporate values. As per the contextual analysis, this is conceivable in light of the fact that the organization has a wonderful notoriety as a superior maker of family machines and ready to keep up great connection with its associates. By and by, Arthur Foster, the money related leader of the organization appeared confound about corporate reluctance to utilize obligation instruments. Obligation instruments have an impressively lower cost than value, particularly subsequent to fusing charge into the computation. The organization should reexamine its arrangements of financing instruments. Besides, he contends that an appropriate extra edge should likewise be consolidated into the figuring to counterbalance the impact of swelling. II.3.2  Debt and Equity Instruments The organization favors the value financing since it has lower cost and littler legitimate hazard. Be that as it may, because of corporate arrangement of expanding profit rate, the option is done giving more productivity contrast with obligation instruments. For the most part, obligation instruments will result a marginally higher capital expense and they would require regularly scheduled installment, all things considered, they don't have the danger of loosing corporate control to investors. Also, if the organization can keep up the great validity toward loan bosses, after some time they would gladly encourage the organization with obligation augmentations. Then again, the value instruments are a device of acquiring extra assets through subsidiaries or accomplices. These methods the executives will free a greater amount of the corporate control as the value instruments manufacture sups inside the organization. For the most part, the best choice is to keep the best possible harmony among obligation and value financing instruments. Since the great equalization varies among industry, the Star Appliance Company must invest some energy in discovering its own financing balance (‘Financing’, 2006). II.3.3  Inflation As expressed by numerous financial experts in the late 1970’s, swelling was a critical factor affecting the expense of capital. An examination by Cohen (1997) in any case, uncovered that until today, expansion is as yet a critical impact for cost of capital. Swelling, even at its low rates, expands the client cost of capital fundamentally. In the event that the pace of swelling diminishes, the minimal ga

Remarkable Experiences Shoppers have the decision to get to the music from a ceaseless course of action of choices which contrast from each in some manner. In spite of the wealth in decision there exists shortage of remarkable intrigue or sentiments of genuine association with craftsmen in both live and recorded music. The partners in this industry could create expanding incomes as they give the shoppers an all the more satisfying encounters. The impact of changes in innovation on the interest design relies upon the development pace of PCs and web in family units and the various substitutes of the entrance to music they need. Further, the utilization and impact of music on the customer conduct is expanding constantly. This practical music can be utilized to control the purchasing behaviors of shoppers in departmental stores, the dietary patterns of café benefactors and the efficiency of representatives in workplaces, shops and organizations. It is a little yet developing segment in the general interest for music. The innovation has a huge job in the interest of the music. Journey of a Tulane MD/MPH Student

This interview is the latest in an Accepted.com blog series featuring  interviews with medical school applicants and students, offering readers a behind-the-scenes look at  top medical schools and the med school application process. And now, introducing Ajibike Lapite†¦ Accepted: Wed like to get to know you! Where are you from? Where and what did you study as an undergrad? Whats your favorite ice cream flavor? Ajibike: Hi all! I was born in New York City but I spent all but a couple of years in Monroe, Louisiana – a relatively small town approximately five hours north of New Orleans. I went to Princeton University (in Princeton, New Jersey) where I studied Molecular Biology and Global Health and Health Policy. I went to an ice cream shop in Denver and tried Rice Krispie ice cream. Absolutely phenomenal! Definitely my favorite flavor. Accepted: Congrats on your acceptance to Tulanes MD/MPH program! Why did you choose that program? How is it the best fit for you? Ajibike: Thank you! I wrote a blog post about what sparked my interest in the Tulane MD/MPH programs. I’ll share a few of those reasons here! (1) Tulane is close to home but not *too* close, (2) Tulane, like the city, has a very relaxed easy-going culture, (3) the first two years are pass/fail, and (4) the MD/MPH program is a four-year program. I know, awesome! Accepted: Now that schools begunhows it going so far? Whats your favorite thing about the program so far? Least favorite thing? Ajibike: Let’s start with my least favorite aspect of Tulane SOM. Here, we take anatomy as sort of an intensive course. From August until early October we took anatomy and embryology. It was super fast! Although I appreciated not having to deal with the smell of formaldehyde for an extensive period of time, I do think there is some benefit to studying anatomy alongside physiology. I love the flexibility here, and part of that is attributed to the supportive nature of administration as well as the pass/fail grading system. And so, I’ve been able to take two pretty exciting electives: (1) Sexual Health Elective and (2) End of Life Elective. Accepted: What do you think the advantages are of going straight from college to med school? Do you sometimes wish that youd taken time off?   Ajibike: A lot of people are unsure of whether or not a gap year is the right choice. For me, it wasn’t. I spent my senior year of college in a laboratory and knew that I did not want to spend an additional year in a laboratory and I was unsure of what I would want to do in a year (or two) after college. If you have an interest that you want to pursue before medical school begins, take the gap year and go for it! You’ll be glad that you did. Accepted: Had you ever lived in New Orleans before now? How do you like the city? Can you recommend a cozy coffee shop, or some other favorite place, where you like to study or hang out with friends? Ajibike: No I haven’t! Although my home town is not terribly far from New Orleans, I had only visited the city three times before I was an official Tulanian. The city is very musical and vibrant. There is *always* a festival in town and a reason to celebrate — I love this! It can definitely be a distraction but you totally learn to adjust. I study in an assortment of places. Sometimes at school (in the main library or group study rooms), sometimes at the School of Public Health, and quite often in coffee shops. I am a pretty big fan of Avenue Cafe but I have just started to explore additional coffee shops as well. Accepted: What do you plan on doing with your join MD/MPH degree? Ajibike: I’d like to be involved in global health infrastructure reform to some extent. To an extent, I am really interested in being hands on in global health infrastructure via organizations such as Doctors without Borders. At some point, I think involvement with the World Health Organization would be amazing. Accepted: Looking back at the application process, what would you say was the most challenging step? What did you do to overcome that challenge? Ajibike: I found it incredibly hard to click ‘submit’ on my applications. I would finish my essays, upload them to the portal, and spend far too much time worrying that the essays were not perfect (they never are). I don’t know if I ‘overcame’ it necessarily. My parents told me that I was ridiculous and convinced me to hit ‘submit.’ Accepted: What are your top three admissions tips with our readers? Ajibike: (1) Stay calm. (2) Stay focused. 4 Icebreaker Activities for Use Year Round

A positive school climate improves outcomes for students, especially those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. A positive school climate also contributes to academic achievement. Creating a positive school climate that offers such benefits can start in the classroom, and one way to start is by using icebreakers. Although icebreakers do not outwardly appear academic, they are a first step to building a positive classroom climate. According to researchers  Sophie Maxwell et al. in their report The Impact of School Climate and School Identification on Academic Achievement in Frontier Psychology (12/2017), the more positively students perceived school climate, the better their achievement scores were in the numeracy and writing domains. Included in these perceptions were  connections to a class and  the strength of relationships with school staff.   Fostering feelings of trust and acceptance in relationships is difficult when students do not know how to talk to each other. Developing empathy and making connections come from interactions in an informal environment. An emotional connection to  a classroom or school will  improve a students motivation to attend. Teachers might use the following four activities at the beginning of school. They each can be adapted to refresh classroom collaboration and cooperation at various times of the year. Crossword Connection This activity includes visual symbols of connection and self-introductions. The teacher prints her name on the board, leaving some space between each letter. She then tells the class something about herself. Next, she picks a student to come to the board, tell something about themselves  and print their name crossing the teachers name as in a crossword puzzle. Students take turns by saying something about themselves and adding their names. Volunteers copy the completed puzzle as a poster.  The puzzle could be written on paper taped to the board and left up in the first-draft form to save time. This activity can be extended by asking each student to write their name and a statement about themselves on a sheet of paper. The teacher can then use the statements as clues for class names made with crossword puzzle software. TP Surprise Students will know you are full of fun with this one. The teacher welcomes students at the door at the start of class while holding a roll of toilet paper. He or she instructs students to take as many sheets as they need but refusing to explain the purpose. Once the class begins, the teacher asks students to write one interesting thing about themselves on each sheet. When students are finished, they can introduce themselves by reading each sheet of toilet paper. Variation: Students write one thing they hope or expect to learn in the course this year on each sheet. Take a Stand The purpose of this activity is for students to survey their peers positions quickly on various matters. This survey also combines physical movement with topics that range from the serious to the ridiculous. The teacher puts one long line of tape down the center of the room, pushing desks out of the way so that students can stand on either side of the tape. The teacher reads a  statement with either-or answers such as, I prefer night or day, Democrats or Republicans, lizards or snakes. The statements can range from silly trivia to serious content. After hearing each statement, students agreeing with the first response move to one side of the tape and those agreeing with the second, to the other side  of the tape. Undecided or middle-of-the-roaders are allowed to straddle the line of tape. Jigsaw Search Students especially enjoy the search aspect of this activity. The teacher prepares jigsaw puzzle shapes. The shape may be symbolic of a topic or in different colors. These are cut like a jigsaw puzzle with the number of pieces matching the desired group size from two to four. The teacher allows students to select one puzzle piece from a container as they walk into the room. At the designated time, students search the classroom for peers who have puzzle pieces that fit theirs and then team up with those students to perform a task. Some  tasks might be to introduce a partner, to make a poster defining a concept, or to decorate the puzzle pieces and make a mobile. The teacher may have students print their names on both sides of their puzzle piece in order to facilitate name learning during the search activity. The names could be erased or crossed out so the puzzle pieces can be reused. Later, the puzzle pieces can be used as a way to review subject content, for example, by joining an author and his novel, or an element and its properties. Note: If the number of puzzle pieces does not match the number of students in the room, some students will not have a complete group. Leftover puzzle pieces can be placed on a table for students to check to see if their group will be short members.

Banning The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn written by...

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn written by Mark Twain might seem like a good book to have high school students read since it’s about a boy named Huckleberry Finn and his adventures through his life by dealing with the struggles that he has or when he finds a runaway slave, named Jim, who is on an island trying to stay hidden so he will not be sold as a slave. Throughout the novel the reader will see that Huck has an adventurous personality, comes to find out who is father is and tries to help Jim, the runaway slave, to live and hopefully see his family again. Also, there are people out there that might think Huck Finn may not be a good book to read and think that it should be banned from schools and libraries. The reason why people†¦show more content†¦Also, it was a liberal word that was used to describe African-Americans and Mark Twain was just using this word as to portray how the Southerners talked and wanted to maintain the reality of the book. Readers who rea d Huck Finn may find it hard to read due to the fact that Mark Twain uses the language of his time period as the language in the book and that involved using profanity and not showing lots of respect towards either the white Southerners or the black Southerners, that is why most people reading this will not be able to handle either the profanity or the reality of how people we treated in the South during the early 1800’s. A second thing that most people who read or have read this would probably think that this is a controversial book, but in fact it’s actually a classic, with real life events or situations. What some people do not realize is that Huck Finn uses profanity as so does the real world, but so does music and movies and if their trying to get books banned because it uses profanity then they should try to get music and movies banned too. Huck Finn is just a young boy living to survive and helping Jim along the way. He’s just living a most people back in the day and that is real life, there’s nothing controversial about that. It is taking a life away an innocent life away from what could be a genius one day. I could never end a life because of any reason! Many think that life begins when you are born- that is not true life begins when you are conceived in those first few days. Even though you are not a fetus you still are a human. To declare a beginning of life at any point after the fusing of a wife’s egg and a husband’s contribution is irrational and an exercise in sophistical chicanery. A living human person begins to exist at the moment of conception, even though only as a cell. What is important is not the accident of size or weight but the essence – which is fully human. The unborn baby has a distinct, unchanging and unrepeatable genetic code, unique in all of history, from the moment of conception till death. Nothing is added except nutrition and oxygen. There are many types of abortions. During the first trimester, there is medical abortion procedure or after the first trimester there is surgical abortion. Surgical abortions is when instruments are used to cut the fetus into pieces and remove it f rom the uterus using a vacuum pump or just simple scraping and extraction. Medical abortion is with medications and it basically dissolves the child. The next two procedures have fallen out of use in modern times due to advances in pregnancy prediction and in ways to perform emergency C-sections without killing

Nursing Journal Entry free essay sample

The second week of my preceptorship brought many new experiences for me, and I can honestly say that each day I spend with my preceptor is better than the last. This week I focused on time management of a full patient load with continued documentation practice as well as admission and discharge procedures. I’ve had brief experiences in my past rotations assisting with discharge teaching and admission assessments however I have never been able to fully take charge and complete the process from start to finish, so this was a great learning opportunity for me. My first day with my preceptor this week (Wednesday October 26, 2011) was cut short due to a school obligation and personal situation. Although I only spent five hours on my unit, I did my best to make them count. I was particularly excited for my patient assignment today because I was caring for two infants which is truly my passion. We will write a custom essay sample on Nursing Journal Entry or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page My first patient was the same patient I had cared for the previous week, a now 21-day-old baby boy admitted with a positive urine culture and blood culture. I was glad to have this patient again because I was able to further build on my relationship with the patient’s Mother and reinforce the education I had provided previously. While caring for this patient I think I demonstrated the clinical competency of evaluating the effectiveness of the patient’s plan of care utilizing critical thinking and the nursing process and revising the patient’s plan of care. For example, this patient was responding well to his antibiotic treatment every six hours, as well as consistently taking in adequate amounts of formula with each feeding. While calculating the intake and output I noticed that the patient was urinating excessive amounts. After assessing the hydration status of the infant, I questioned the primary physician regarding the need for the client to be receiving maintenance fluid at a rate of 10ml/hr. The doctor agreed that this was excessive for such a small infant and requested the maintenance fluid be decreased to a rate of 5ml/hr. I felt really good about recognizing this issue and making sure the plan of care with this baby was as updated as possible. Another important clinical competency I experienced while working with this patient was identifying the necessity of constructive feedback from my preceptor and others. Specifically when it came to feeding practices by this patient’s mother who I felt was over-feeding the baby. I realized that after explaining the situation I was sounding judgmental, and that I needed to disregard my personal feelings about the mom’s feeding style and instead find opportunities to advocate for the patient and educate the mom further. With advice from my instructor and the help of Kathryn we then placed a phone call to the hospital lactation consultants and arranged a meeting for her to come and work with the mom to try and encourage breastfeeding and offer further education about proper feeding practices for her new baby. On my second day of clinical experience this week I focused a lot on time management and documentation for a full patient load, and also on the admission and discharge process. After taking report on all three of our patients, I began my initial morning assessments. It was clear that our 8-year-old post-operative appendectomy was ready to be discharged. My priorities were assessing her incision sites and ensuring the presence of bowel sounds, as well as making sure she did not have a fever and was tolerating a general diet. After completing my assessment and documenting in the computer, we received the discharge orders from the surgeon. In the past I have merely observed my preceptor and other assigned nurses complete all the discharge paper work, evaluate the medication reconciliation, and provide the teaching, but this time things were different. Instead, Kathryn wanted to observe me. I felt very excited that she trusted me with an important task, and although she was sitting next to me walking me through the entire process, it was still an amazing learning opportunity for me. I was able to manage the needs of my other two patients (a 22-day-old baby, and a 56-year-old pneumonia patient) and successfully complete the entire discharge process that included entering orders, reconciling the medications, administering a final dose of pain medication, and providing instructions and teaching to both mom and the patient before calling the departure. For the future I need to be a little more organized and have everything pulled together before going in to the room, for example this patient needed a note for her school, and mom had also requested a flu shot for her daughter before leaving. Kathryn told me I did well, but next time I will make it a goal to not have to run back and forth out of the room to obtain additional things. Almost as soon as we discharged our patient, we were notified by the charge nurse that we would be getting a new patient, a 41-year-old woman with a DVT and a heparin drip. When the patient arrived I was able to complete the entire health history and admission assessment. It was my first time having to interview the patient about every aspect of their health. I really enjoyed it, I was able to pull a chair over next to the patient and bring in a portable computer and have a great conversation about her health and reason for visiting. I think I did a great job documenting everything specifically and performing a very thorough and detailed initial assessment. In my opinion this was a great example of the clinical competency of providing an example of learning and professional growth. For next week, my goals will continue to be time management and documentation, with the added goals of keeping an open mind about all patients and doing my best to not sound judgmental.

May Fourth Movement and 1911 Revolution free essay sample

There are two historical event scholars believes can be threat as milestone of the transformation: 1911 Xinhai revolution, which brings an end to the two thousand year of monarchy; May fourth movement which carried out by students in Beijing protesting against the unfair reatment China get on the 1919 Paris Peace Conference. The word revolution means the fundamental change of power, where the word movement is a group action asking improvements to be made. In term of political, cultural and social terms, May fourth movement has a much significant influence than the Xinhai revolution. In fact, Xinhai revolution does not achieve any political improvement of the government. Culturally, there is giant step forward after the 1911 revolution. Lastly from the society point of view, life is only getting worse. Historians believe Xinhai revolution is bout Dr Sun Yat-sens personal optimism and penchant in politics (Eto Schiffrin, 1994). Fourth May Movement is a step to the modernisation in political, cultural and social terms. We will write a custom essay sample on May Fourth Movement and 1911 Revolution or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page The expulsion of Manchus does more political damage then the Fourth May Movement. The term politics define as the process by which groups of people make collective decisions (Kymlicka, 2002). Scholars in the present date are still debating whether the revolution to bring China to a republic country is a good idea (Kapp, 1973). At 1900s, China has a population of 400 million; people are influenced by the onarchy for two thousand years. The country itself had only opened to foreigners for fifty years; the revolution in 1900 shows the majority of population rejects western ideas. Many warlords have take advantage of peoples unawareness for person gain. At the point of view of the government, after the revolution, the centralised Beiyang government is only able to govern a few provenances. The rest are controlled by local political powers having their own armies and beyond the central governments control. The second problem with the 1911 revolution is, even inside the Chinese United Leagues, leaders have no idea of which form of government to use after the revolution becomes a success (Kent, 1999). The original agenda with the Chinese United league is to expulsion the Manchus first then discuss which governing system to use. Even when the 1911 revolution has come to an success inside the Chinese United League itself are still debating which form of government to use, presidential system, cabinet system. When Dr Sun is the president, Presidential system is used, but when Yuan Shikai become the president cabinet system is used in order to reduce his political influence. This not only shows the revolutionists fail to trust Yuan Shikai, also the formation of government is not based on good political will. The political climate at 1911 is full of darkness and violence (Chang, 1987). Different political power are trying all they can to grab all the power. Secrete executions are carried out to the people with different political views. For example, Zhang Zhenwu is executed by Yuan Shikais order to damage the political appearance of his Vice president Li Yuanhong who is also the main opposition to his rule. Moreover, Song Jiaorens assassination in 1913, after Guomin party wins majority seat in the arliament. Ultimately, the 1911 revolution was not a success. Take into account that Yuan Shikai in 1915 re-establish monarchy and crowns himself the Emperor. Many scholars believe Politically, Xinhai revolution is more of Dr Suns optimism but improve Chinas political climate. In comparison to the Fourth May revolution, the results are completely different. On 4th May 1919, some 3000 students confounded the police by assembling at the Beijings Tiananmen Square and taking to the streets, the demonstration was well organized, corpear to the 1911 Revolution (Schwarcz, 1986). Under the pressure of Fourth May movement, during the 1921 Washington conference, an agreement is made between China and Japan, requires Japan to return all the previous Germany leased territory, return the custom authority in Qindao to China and many railways (Frederick, 1999).

Macbeth Themes Essays (1432 words) - Characters In Hamlet

Macbeth Themes Person's thoughts will differ from their actions, be it the fear of being the same or different from others, the consequences of their actions, or the opinions that others may form about them. People live their lives like drones, always conforming to the rules, afraid to brake away from the norm and do what they know or even feel to be the right thing to do simply because they might cause a ripple in the smooth little lake in which their boat is afloat. Within the Playwright Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, Hamlet suffers from such dilemma. Hamlet refuses to act on what he knows to be accurate, always reassuring himself of his lack of action. Hamlet also acts in a manner which some may wish to call lunacy. This is due to the loss in which he has suffered, as well as he is just pretending to fool the people who he is plotting against. Hamlet's father, King Hamlet, was the greatest king Denmark had ever seen. Respected and revered by all with the exception of his brother, Claudius. Claudius had envied his older brother since boyhood, the king living the life that Claudius had always wanted. A wife, a son, and a kingdom were all the holdings possessed by King Hamlet, holdings and possessions that Claudius would soon make his, by the killing of his brother. Though Hamlet feels that his mother's marriage to Claudius was to soon after the death of King Hamlet, he does not suspect Claudius killed king Hamlet until told of a sighting of a ghost by some guards while on watch. Hamlet tells Polonious that he will stand watch that night with them to see if they can see the ghost again. That night Hamlet stands watch with Polonious and the ghost appears before them. The ghost tells Hamlet that he is his father, and of how he was killed. Hamlet is told that while his father lay under the shade of a tree Claudius came to him and poured poison in his ear and caused his death instantaneously not allowing him time to repent of his sins, therefore condemning him to be trapped between the two paranormal worlds. The ghost then tells Hamlet to avenge his death. Though hamlet agrees to kill Claudius he does not kill him forthright. Hamlet hesitates and seems to invalidate every possible moment or opportunity that arises to take the life of Claudius. His reason for his hesitation is not known and one can only guess at what they may be. It could be that he doesn't believe the ghost. He could be afraid of hurting his mother by killing her second husband, or the fact that he is his uncle. What ever the reason is, he doses hesitate, and by doing so causes more pain and suffering for more people than if he would have killed Claudius forthright. The first example noted of such hesitation by Hamlet within the play if found within act three scene three where Hamlet contemplates the extermination of Claudius while he seems to be at prayer. " Now might I do it pat, now he's praying. And..." (P70-71) Within this paragraph Hamlet will eventually state that he cannot kill Claudius due to the fact that to kill him at prayer would only send him to heaven and not eternally damn him to the bowels of hell. Hamlet thinks that if he killed Claudius while he was at prayer and he was sent to heaven that it would be unfair to his father who is eternally trapped between the present and the afterlife. That is at least the reason that is given by Hamlet directly from the text. Though by the reading the entire book you will see a patter of actions and lack of actions that seem to signify that he only acts insane so to disorientate the other people within the story. Yet knowing that his father was murdered, who murdered him, and what Hamlet was asked to do to seek vengeance he feels that he has to constantly reassure himself of his lack of action was right so that he doesn't feel like he is failing his father. Hamlet is mad and plotting and or struggling with the question of what to do about the revenge seeking that he has sworn to tend to for his deceased father. The loss of a father has exiled him into a non-existent state to where neither present world nor the futures that will come are

What is a Capstone Project in High School?

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines a capstone as a â€Å"high point: crowning achievement† which, in many ways, defines a capstone project for high schoolers. Capstone projects require students to use all of the skills they’ve built over the course of their schooling to complete a substantial project that highlights their educational and intellectual experience.    A high school capstone project is a way for students to demonstrate the culmination of skills and knowledge gained through their academic career by completing a long-term, multi-faceted project. Typically performed at the end of a student’s high school career, students commonly choose a topic, profession, or social problem to explore and work with a mentor in that field of interest. The mentor guides the student through the project—sharing their knowledge of the field, teaching new skills, ensuring the student stays on task, and fostering a professional, real-world experience. Over the course of the project, students conduct research, maintain a portfolio detailing the steps taken, and create a final paper, product, or presentation that demonstrates what they’ve learned. Often times, a final presentation is given to a panel of teachers, experts in the field, and community members. One of the primary benefits of a capstone project to a high school student is that it highlights their educational accomplishments. Capstone projects provide students with the opportunity to exhibit their capacity for learning and allow them to show off the critical thinking skills they’ve built. Colleges search for well-rounded students and the multi-faceted nature of a capstone project allows students to display a wide range of skills to prospective schools—writing, research, teamwork, planning, self-sufficiency and public speaking are just a sampling of the many skills used by a student to complete such a rigorous project. Capstone projects are a great way to indicate to potential colleges that a student is prepared for the demands of higher education. Capstone projects also benefit high school students by creating self-confidence and building a sense of preparedness for college. A student who has successfully completed a thorough study of a subject and collaborated with an older, experienced mentor is likely to feel ready to take the next step academically. Capstone projects can also add a sense of purpose to a time where interest in education often wanes—consider it a cure for senioritis.    Lastly, capstone projects let students immerse themselves in a field of interest. For some students, it solidifies their interest in a field and clarifies a degree path; others may learn through their capstone project that the field they chose isn’t as interesting as they thought. Either way, it helps create a sense of certainty before taking expensive college courses. Our Early Advising Program helps students in 9th and 10th grade discover their passions and build strong academic and extracurricular profiles to succeed in high school. Though there are numerous benefits to undertaking a capstone project, the question remains: should your child complete one? The simple answer is yes. Completing a capstone project can be a feather in the cap of any prospective college student, so long as the project doesn’t interfere with any of the student’s other activities or interests that may be attractive to colleges and universities. Colleges are always searching for students who maintain a high grade point average (GPA) while challenging themselves academically. The long-term, intense study of a subject will certainly make a student’s academic prowess evident to prospective schools, but this is only valuable if it doesn’t interfere with their studies and negatively affect their GPA. Students challenging themselves with a capstone project should be careful not to undertake the project at the expense of their other intellectual pursuits. Colleges also seek out well-rounded students and you can make the argument that the focused study of one subject is out of line with what colleges and universities hope to see in a student. It’s true that capstone projects highlight the possession of a diverse skill set in a student, but colleges look for students with a wide range of interests in addition to skills. Students should not take up a capstone project if it means sacrificing extracurricular activities and other interests. On a more personal level, students should ask themselves what they want to accomplish via a capstone project. The best projects are often the ones where the student is most passionate. If a student has a sincere interest in the deeper exploration of a field, it should be encouraged and their excitement and enthusiasm for the field can be felt in their work. If a student is solely tackling a capstone project to wow colleges, there is most likely a better way to impress schools more in line with the student’s interest. Looking to get a better sense of what a capstone project is or looking for an idea to get started on your own capstone project? Here are some examples: Business: Study digital marketing and create a digital marketing plan for a local business to help increase awareness and drive sales. STEM: Learn about video game or app development and conceptualize, design, and build a working game or app. Athletics: Research training and nutrition, build a training plan and diet, and perform in an athletic competition (a triathlon or marathon, for example). Community Service: Learn about the work non-profits do, get first-hand experience volunteering with a local non-profit, and build a plan to create an organization that serves your community. Film: Research what makes an effective public service announcement (PSA) and write, direct, and film a PSA that addresses a concern in your community. A capstone project is just one way that high schoolers can boost their college profile. Our Early Advising Program is aimed at 9th and 10th graders—helping them get a jump start on building a resume that will impress college admissions officers with great grades, stellar standardized test scores, and awesome extracurricular activities. In architecture, a capstone is the final stone placed on a bridge or arch, securing all the other stones in place. In combination with our Early Advising Program, a capstone project is a great way to tie together all of the work a student has done during their high school career to complete an inspiring college profile.

Women Issues Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Women Issues - Assignment Example This concept of feminism is usually occupied with the activities which aim at providing knowledge on the unfairness and biasness that are experienced in the male dominated societies. For a clear execution of their duties, feminists use various theories that strive to understand the origin and structural construction of the gender inequality by examining the feminine social roles and the general women life. In this context, we can refer feminism as a social spectrum, which incorporates aspects like the pursuit of various schemes and fantasies, delusional feminist aspects to the rationality concepts, all aimed towards advocating for the recognition and application of women rights principles (Rauchut 341). The broad term of feminism can be narrowed down to address the existence of two groups; gender feminists and equity feminists. These two feminism categories differ in their principle ideologies behind governing their advocating for recognition of feminine roles in a society. The ideol ogies behind these types of feminism were first coined by Hoff Sommers in her famous writings. According to Sommers, gender feminism focuses on the interaction between the society and the cultural gender roles performed by women within the same social setting. On the other hand, equity feminism is associated with equal rights and equal treatment of women in the society. In its practical application, gender feminism has been labeled as bad feminism because it deals with the questioning of the fundamental rules of the society. On the opposite side, equity feminism is credited because it is occupied with the purpose of advocating and supporting the aspect of equal rights to every member of a society. The principles of gender feminism do not question the idea that women should stay at home and play their cultural roles. This type of feminism is only occupied with the aspects of equity and other legal issues. Contrary, gender feminism questions the ideas of cultural roles played by women within a social environment. It seeks to achieve cultural equity among women and men. At this juncture, we will focus at the equity feminism, which is the most dominant contemporary feminism at modern times (Rauchut 349). In every society, those individuals and groups fighting for gender equality con be heard complaining of numerous issues which they are not satisfied with. Therefore, equity feminists are constantly pushing forward their grievances to the relevant authorities for recognition. The equity feminist grievances are mainly centered on the economical, social and legal issues affecting the female members of the society. Some of these complains include the aspects of women reproduction like use of contraceptives and abortion, divorce, equal payment at workplaces, child custody and maternity leave in their occupational duties. Early equity feminists advocated for equal economic opportunities when it comes to divorce. The argued that a divorce should benefit the victim woman the same way the marriage benefited her. Secondly, feminists claimed that abortion was discriminatory based on the economic capabilities of women. In their campaigns, they advocated for provision of economic assistance to poor women who needed to carry out an abortion by the relevant authorities. In addition, these feminists also fought for equality in terms of salaries and wages to men and women in the economic sector. In case of a divorce of a family who had a child, the mother should not be left to bring up the child on her own. The child’s father should contribute towards the financial upbringing of the child, and the child should remain under the mother’

The Political Career Of Richard Nixon :: biography Bio History Politics Nixon Essays

A few weeks after the United States entered World War II a young man named Richard Nixon went to Washington, D.C. In January 1942 he took a job with the Office of Price Administration. Two months later he applied for a Navy commission, and in September 1942 he was commissioned a lieutenant, junior grade. During much of the war he served as an operations officer with the South Pacific Combat Air Transport Command, rising to the rank of lieutenant commander.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  After the war Nixon returned to the United States, where he was assigned to work on Navy contracts while awaiting discharge. He was working in Baltimore, Maryland, when he received a telephone call that changed his life. A Republican citizen's committee in Whittier was considering Nixon as a candidate for Congress in the 12th Congressional District. In December 1945 Nixon accepted the candidacy with the promise that he would "wage a fighting, rocking, socking campaign." Jerry Voorhis, a Democrat who had represented the 12th District since 1936, was running for reelection. Earlier in his career Voorhis had been an active Socialist. He had become more conservative over the years and was now an outspoken anti-Communist. Despite Voorhis' anti-Communist stand the Los Angeles chapter of the left-wing Political Action Committee (PAC) endorsed him, apparently without his knowledge or approval. The theme of Nixon's campaign was "a vote for Nixon is a vote against the Communist-dominated PAC." The approach was successful. On November, 5 1946, Richard Nixon won his first political election. The Nixons' daughter Patricia (called Tricia) was born during the campaign, on February 21, 1946. Their second daughter, Julie, was born July 5, 1948. As a freshman congressman, Nixon was assigned to the Un-American Activities Committee. It was in this capacity that in August 1948 he heard the testimony of Whittaker Chambers, a self-confessed former Communist espionage agent. Chambers named Alger Hiss, a foreign policy advisor during the Roosevelt years, as an accomplice while in government service. Hiss, a former State Department aide, asked for and obtained a hearing before the committee. He made a favorable impression, and the case would then have been dropped had not Nixon urged investigation into Hiss's testimony on his relationship with Chambers. The committee let Nixon pursue the case behind closed doors. He brought Chambers and Hiss face to face. Chambers produced evidence proving that Hiss had passed State Department secrets to him. Among the exhibits were rolls of microfilm which Chambers had hidden in a pumpkin on his farm near Westminster, Md., as a precaution against theft. On December 15, 1948, a New York federal grand jury indict ed Hiss for perjury.
